windows to the soul

A young couple moved into a new neighbourhood and the next morning while they
were eating breakfast the young woman sees her neighbour hanging out the wash.
‘That laundry is not very clean,’ she says. ‘She doesn’t know how
to wash her clothes properly –  I wonder if she needs a better laundry soap.’
Her husband looks on, but remains silent. Every time her neighbour hangs out her
wash to dry, the young woman makes the same comments.
About a month later, the young woman is surprised to see a nice clean w
ash on the line and says to her husband: ‘look, our neighbour has learned to wash correctly.
I wonder who taught her?’
The husband replies ‘I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.’
And so it is with life. What we see depends upon the purity of the window we are looking through
